Negombo being just a few kilometres away Sri Lanka’s major international airport has played a big part in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. Negombo offers so much to tourists in terms of culture and history. It has one of the oldest fishing industries in all of Asia and the number of churches it boasts is unrivalled in Sri Lanka. It is even referred to as Little Rome by lots of people.

Negombo is famous for its beaches and a very unique canal network system spanning over 100 kilometres that has existed since the Dutch era and is still very much in use today. Negombo is similar to Galle in many ways except for this canal network. Negombo is also the fifth largest city in the Island. Some places of interest in and around Negombo are:
